Whatever the occasion, these creamy and decadent Homemade Chocolate Truffles are sure to amaze. It’s perfect as a sweet gesture for Valentine’s Day, as a gift for family and friends, or simply for self-indulgence! The best part is, it only takes a few ingredients and a few simple steps! The homemade-ness makes for a perfectly imperfect gift, where none of them are the exact same size or perfect circles. Come to think about it, it’s more likely just my inability to roll circles.
So it’s Valentine’s Day tomorrow, that means we can eat all the sweets with none of the guilt right? Even though I only said that to fool Tina, these ARE worth breaking the diet for, even if it’s just for one self-indulging day. Happy Valentine’s Day everyone 😍! Here’s the thing, I’m not a big fan of sweets. In fact, I have almost no sweet tooth, like at all! Weird, I know, but I do enjoy the occasional sweets and chocolate is definitely the go-to when that happens. Especially when you can control exactly what goes into the dessert! Let’s get started, shall we?
We start with the dark chocolate, at least 70%. I had a pack of plain and a pack of sweetened dark chocolate so I used a mix of the two. If you only have dark, sweeten the truffles up with some honey! I split the cream+milk mixture into 2 and added some mint into one of them just to change it up a little bit. Don’t worry, the mint flavor will be really mild since we’re only bringing the mixture to a gentle boil. Who am I kidding, mint chocolate is delicious!
Thing about making truffles at home is, you have the liberty to get really creative! You can infuse the chocolate with mint or vanilla or cinnamon or really almost anything you like! You can coat them in coconut shreds, chocolate chips, or nuts! Omg, why didn’t I think of using nuts earlier? Oh well.
And of course, I had to do a quick taste test to make sure they’re right, you know, for science! If they don’t taste absolutely divine, then they are not good enough to gift right? Don’t worry guys, my conclusive research shows that these definitely pass the taste test! I may have tested 2 or 3, you know, just to be sure. But who’s counting? 😉
