This perfect steak with balsamic mushrooms and onions is mouth-wateringly good. Tender, full of herb-infused flavor, it is definitely a winner. Winner, winner…steak dinner??
We just got back from our Bahamas trip and I’ll be honest, it took a few days to get myself back into the kitchen. We really needed a little pick-me-up meal on our last day of vacation and this was just perfect. I know, I know, like there is ever a bad day for steak. No? I wholeheartedly agree, there is something so satisfying about having a nice piece of steak. However, this is no ordinary steak. Just a few ingredients and simple tricks and you can take your steak to the next level, here’s how:
Things you’ll need to make this awesomeness for dinner tonight: garlic, onions, mushrooms, fresh rosemary, fresh thyme, butter, balsamic vinegar, and steak (I used striploin steaks about 14 ounces each). Quick, write it down before you forget! Don’t you hate it when you go to the store and completely forget what you came for? It happens to me all the time, maybe more than the average person. Don’t make the same mistake I
The keys to infusing your steak with maximum flavor:
- Sear the fat cap for 20 seconds before searing the sides to release even more flavor
- Sear the herbs with the steak to infuse the oil
- Tilt the pan and constantly baste the steak
Once you remove the steak and let it rest, use the remaining juice/oil/butter/amazingness to cook the mushroom and onions. Add a splash of balsamic and you’re all set! Serve it up with a nice healthy salad, you know, to balance it all, and you’ve got yourself a fantastic meal. Give it a try tonight, you will love it!
Oh, don’t throw away the fried garlic and the herbs! Sprinkle the leaves and the garlic on the steak, they are so crunchy and absolutely delicious with the steak.
