Ingredients
  • 2pounds of Basa Filet(recipe note 1)
  • 2tablespoons of Oil(any high smoke point oil)
For the Blackened seasoning
  • 2teaspoons of Garlic Powder
  • 2teaspoons of Paprika
  • 1teaspoon of Onion powder
  • 1teaspoon of Cayenne Powder
  • 1teaspoon of Celery Seed
  • 1teaspoon of Mustard Seed
  • 1teaspoon of Dried Thyme
  • 1teaspoon of Dried Oregano
  • 1teaspoon of Cumin
  • 1teaspoon of Salt
  • 1teaspoon of Black Pepper
Instructions
  1. Mix all the Blackened seasoning ingredients in a bowl. Sprinkle over both sides of the fish filets ensuring all sides are covered well.
  2. Heat a tablespoon of Oil on high heat in a cast iron skillet (or any thick bottomed skillet). Lay fish filets but do not overcrowd the pan or move the fish! Cook for 2-3 minutes each side, flipping once.
  3. Serve with your favorite sides and that’s it. It’s simple as that!
Recipe Notes
  1. Any fish filet will do such as cod or snapper. I cut them in half to make it easier to work with but if your cooking surface is big enough, feel free to keep whole.
